| | This past week I was introduced to real poetry. I had never really thought about any of the poetry I had read before, but this past week I was shown how to read, analyze, and learn from poems. So I thought I would post some of the "poems" I've written. They are quite horrible, but who cares.
Cat - 2/9/1999 (age 7) A cat is furry. It likes to be petted. It’s never in a hurry. But don’t get it wetted!
Squirrels - 2007 (age 14) Scampering quickly The squirrels come out of their homes Walking on the rock
Debate Partner! – 10/15-2008 (age 15) The email came. Final debate partners told. The email came. Who could it be? The email came. I've waited so long. The email came. From the debate coach. The email came. My fate in two words. The email came Who could it be? The email came. Heart racing, I opened it. The email had come. Quickly looking. The email had come. Total excitement. The email was read. Laughing and glad. The email was read. Just a bit scared. The email came. But, oh so happy. The email had come. Going to be an awesome year. The email was read.
Dripping Dropping - 11/1/2008 (age 15) Voices whisper as it trickles through the leaves. Mist sprays up from a cars tire like a strong wave crash in the sea. People like ants run from the wetness penetrating the earth. The liquid diamonds shatter on the ground and the head of little brown haired girl. The sky's tears fall on the thirsty ground. Umbrellas look like colored clouds floating down the sidewalk. Sad worms wriggle to the air. And happy children play in the silver puddles.
Debate! Gahh! – 11/3/2008 (age 15) I have so much debate. 1AC needs to be done. I have so much debate. Neg ev needs to be found. I have so much debate. Cases need to be thought out. I have so much debate. Need to buy sticky notes. I have so much debate. Have to talk to partner. I have so much debate. Tournament in 5 days. I have so much debate. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Jumble – 3/29/2009 (age 16) My soul yearns. It wants, it pleads Like the tide of the ocean My soul pulls.
Wind. Blowing softly, lightly playing Like sheets dancing in space The wind blows.
Warm. Joy in a scientific form Like the smile of a child It warms me.
My Dance – 4/11/2009 (age 16) In the Kitchen Cleaning, dancing Spinning, washing
Knee Socks Laughing, folding Working, twirling |
